Hey friends! We had a blast recently when students from the local Media Communications program stopped by for a hands-on field trip at Carpy’s. It’s one thing to learn about color separations and graphic design in Adobe Illustrator in class, but seeing it all come together in real production? That’s next level!
This year’s group got to see firsthand how their classroom lessons translate into real-world applications. They were all over it. Screen printing their own shirts, checking out our embroidery machines, and seeing how designs they’d normally see on a screen get turned into tangible products.
They got to try their hand at screen printing, pulling the squeegee themselves and seeing how the process works up close. They also watched our embroidery machines in action, seeing how intricate designs get stitched onto apparel. On top of that, they got a behind-the-scenes look at how we take a design from a digital file to a finished product, which really opened their eyes to what goes into professional printing.
What made this trip even more special is that most of our staff are former Media Communications grads themselves! Seth, Evan, and I all walked the same halls, and we even have Marissa Adams, another Media grad, helping us out part-time.
