This past weekend, our team driver TJ Greer made the journey to Plymouth, Indiana, to compete at the renowned 5 Star RC Raceway. Known for its sealed, high bite oval with plenty of character, the track didn’t disappoint. The scorching temperatures added an extra layer of challenge, with track temps peaking at a blistering 133°F.

Practice and Qualifying
TJ hit the track running his 2024 Team GFRP Prodigy SC Mod and the 2024 Team GFRP Assault Wing Sprint, both powered by Team Exalt products. The SC Mod was dialed in from the start, thanks to JConcepts Swipers, providing TJ with excellent traction. The Sprint, initially a bit edgy on JConcepts Ellipses, saw significant improvements after switching to DE Phenoms.
In qualifying, TJ secured P7 with the SC Mod after making some brass additions and testing out a Cheaters Ink Prototype Bumper. As the sun set, track conditions shifted dramatically, affecting traction for many competitors. Despite the changing conditions, TJ managed a respectable P12 in the Sprint.
B Mains Performance
The B Mains were a mix of highs and lows. In the Sprint B Main, TJ faced some lap traffic issues, causing him to lose the transfer position, ultimately finishing P3. Despite this setback, the car felt stable and fast, showing great potential for future races.
The SC Mod B Main, however, was a different story. Starting on the pole, TJ dominated the race, quickly pulling two laps ahead of second place and cruising to victory. This secured his spot in the A Main, setting the stage for an exciting final race.

A Main Showdown
Starting P7 in the SC Mod A Main, TJ faced some rough driving but managed to climb to P4. An overdriven corner saw him lose a spot, and he ultimately finished in P5. It was a solid performance in a highly competitive field.
Team Spirit and Future Prospects
Beyond his own success, TJ took time to help fellow GFRP drivers, including Carson Stout, a recent Carpy’s customer. With TJ’s assistance, Carson’s car now stands as a podium contender, highlighting the collaborative spirit and camaraderie within our team.
Overall, it was a great day at 5 Star RC Raceway. Despite the heat and challenging conditions, TJ’s performance was commendable, and the team’s efforts in supporting each other were truly inspiring. We’re excited to see what the rest of the season holds for TJ and our team.
Stay tuned for more updates and race recaps as we continue to push the limits and chase victories!
